About Us:"The churches of Christ greet you" (Romans 16:16)
What is the Church of Christ? Churches of Christ are not affiliated with any denonminational body. We are simply trying to be the church you read of in the New Testament -- the one that Jesus built (Matthew 16:16). The church that belongs to Christ will strip itself of all man-made doctrines and theories and simply operate by what is authorized by the Lord Himself. Churches of Christ are simply trying to restore first-century Christianity in its purest form.
What We Believe * We believe that Jesus is the Son of God (John 20:30- 31), that the Bible is inspired by God (2 Timothy
3:16- 17), and that Jesus will return to take His kingdom (church) home to God (1 Corinthians 15:24). * We believe that the New Testament is the only rule for faith and practice in religious matters
(2 Timothy 3:17; I Peter 4:11) and that it must authorize all that is done in Christian worship
(Colossians 3:17; Revelation 22:18-19). * For this reason, only a cappella music is used in worship assemblies (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians
3:16) and the Lord's Supper is observed every Sunday (Acts 20:7). * We believe the Bible teaches that sinners are saved by belief, repentance, confession, and baptism
(John 3:16; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 10:9-10) and that a Christian must remain faithful to the
Lord after conversion (Revelation 2:10). * We believe that it is possible to have religious unity in a day of division by simply following the New
Testament pattern and putting aside human traditions (1 Corinthians 1:10-13).
Leadership in the Church of Christ * There is no hierarchy above the local congregation (other than the Lord Himself). Each
congregational body is autonomous. * Per the Biblical pattern, each congregation is to be organized with elders (1 Timothy 3:1-7;
Titus 1:5-9), deacons (1 Timothy 3:8-13), preachers (2 Timothy 4:5), and members as in New
Testament times (Ephesians 4:11-16).
